The Birchtree Global Incubator Accelerator Program (BGIAP) is a comprehensive program, custom designed to give business leaders the information, resources, and contacts needed to make informed global market entry decisions.  The program begins in Atlanta on October 19. For a preview of the experts and information in the program, we invite you to watch Dr. David Clyde noted global physician and president of Spinnaker Medical Consultants International as he shares his thoughts on what businesses should and should not do as employees begin traveling abroad.

https://attendee.gotowebinar.com/register/6452368932274866177

From a corporate perspective sending employees and families to live and work abroad carries considerable risks. It is an expensive investment which must be evaluated, nurtured, and managed like any other investment, except there are multiple people and family members involved. Corporations that fail to plan and support global assignments risk losing their investment, paying a high price in taxes, expenses and business reputation. Dr. Clyde will discuss the risks but more importantly how organizations can manage these risks. Discussed in this presentation are the following issues:

Developing an illness during travel

Accidents

Personal health issue

Medical emergency situation during travel

Death during travel

Becoming ill after return from international travel

Political instability, terrorism & kidnapping

Infectious Disease Outbreak (e.g. Ebola, SARS)

Illness of business traveler and medical care

Risk to business/employees if exposed employee returns to office

Failure of assignment or early return from assignment

Inability of employee to perform in different cultural/business environment

Inability of local resources to support a medical condition of assignee or family member

Family member – failure to adapt to new culture / environment

Mental health condition deteriorates in new environment

To register for the Atlanta BGIAP program contact information@birchtreeglobal.com.

All BGIAP programs are SHRM-SCP and HRCI certified for senior and global recertification credits.

Birchtree Global Incubator Accelerator Program

By |2018-10-23T11:57:34-04:00September 11th, 2018|Categories: Uncategorized|

The Birchtree Global Incubator Accelerator Program (BGIAP) is a comprehensive program, custom designed to give business leaders the information, resources, and contacts needed to make informed global market entry decisions.  BGIAP is customized for participants and organized from a for-profit corporate perspective.   Distinguished Fortune 500 C-Suite leaders, noted legal, tax, and HR firm partners, in-country government economic advisors, provide personalized instruction, advice, and support.

The Atlanta BGIAP Cohort begins on October 19, 2018 in Atlanta, GA.  Consider BGIAP if:

  1. Quickly acquiring a global corporate perspective on market entry is important
  2. Customized, expert business and economic advice will improve your decision-making
  3. Your business is globalizing, and your employees don’t have much global experience
  4. Experienced global business leaders with in-country experience will help you reduce your market entry risks
  5. Your business depends on optimizing financial performance in a foreign location

The program curriculum includes interactive live discussions, self-paced webinars, country specific materials, research data, and 3 hours of private consultation with your choice of global legal, tax, human resources, or functional experts.  The Atlanta program includes a one-day, meeting with the cohort and business executives followed by three weeks of online meetings.  Market entry research proves, and experienced global leaders confirm the 20 core modules in the BGIAP program comprise the critical information needed for leaders to make informed decisions.  Thus, BGIAP participants avoid walking blindly into the global marketplace, only to have to buy their way out of bad decisions.

The program is challenging and fast paced.  In four weeks, participants acquire the resources needed to reduce risk and increase financial performance in a new global market.   Participants will leave the program with a market entry workbook for the country or countries into which they wish to expand.  Unlike an economic development program, graduate school program, or isolated webinar, BGIAP is taught by business executives with for-profit and in-country experience globalizing businesses.  They know global business is NOT a one-size fits solution.  Your business strategy is unique.  To be competitive, your market entry decisions must be built around maximizing your strategic and operational goals.

If you want to globalize your business, we’ll give you the road map to make the best financial and operational decisions.  To find out more, call:  01 (770) 361-8285 or email: information@birchtreeglobal.com for the brochure and program outline.

2019 Student Grants from the Explorers Club

By |2018-09-10T22:02:01-04:00September 10th, 2018|Categories: Uncategorized|

Announcing the 2019 Student Grants Cycle

As the Secretary to the Board of Directors for The Explorers Club, I’m pleased to announce the 2019 Student Grants.  The Explorers Club is proud of its history but also looks toward the future by recognizing the importance of new ideas and avenues of exploration. The Club is deeply committed to supporting the fieldwork of serious researchers and, as part of its public service commitment, offers exploration grants in the following categories.

High School Students and College Undergraduates

The goal of this grant category is to foster a new generation of explorers dedicated to the advancement of the scientific knowledge of our world. The average award is approximately $1,500.

Graduate Students

This category of grant supports exploration and field research for those who are just beginning their research careers. The average award is approximately $2,500.

Awards for both categories range from $500 to $5,000. We recommend keeping your budget realistic. Only a few grants may be awarded at the $5,000 level.

Both grant categories will require you to submit the following via our online application system:

·         One page description of your project with attention to scientific objectives

·         Description of qualifications of your project associates and the specific sites of your proposed research

·         One paragraph description of your career objectives and aspirations and how this project fits into that plan

·         Letter of recommendation from your supervisor

·         Copy of a current student ID

·         Budget outline

Your proposal should be readily understandable to a reviewer of a discipline other than your own. Avoid heavy use of discipline specific jargon unless clearly defined. Keep your titles simple. Here’s an example.

Clearly stated: “Grouping Dynamics of Woolly Monkeys in Lowland Ecuador”

Too much jargon: “Phylogeography and landscape genomics of the aye-aye (Daubentonia madagascariensis)”

Generally The Explorers Club considers research proposals in a wide array of disciplines, including:

·         Climate Change, Geoscience, Paleoclimate (i.e. Early Earth, Tectonics, Volcanism, Paleontology, Glaciology, Geophysics, Astronomy)

·         Marine Science, Marine Biology, Marine Life, Fish, Coral, Ocean, Fresh Water, Rivers, Lakes, Estuaries

·         Anthropology/Archeology

·         Plants and Molds

·         Animals

·         Conservation Science

Deadline for applications is 5:00 PM EST, November 5, 2018.

To apply, go to – http://grants.explorers.org/

Important things to note:

·         All applications must be submitted through the online system. If you have trouble with registration, please email grants@explorers.org.

·         Awards for the 2019 Grant Cycle will be announced no sooner than March, 2019. Projects must commence after March 15, 2019. Any project beginning before this date will not be considered.

·         Unfortunately The Explorers Club will not be able to consider research proposals for work being conducted in China or by Chinese citizens. The Explorers Club is considered a Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) and we do not comply with the Chinese regulations regarding grant awards by NGOs at this time.
